Vince was one of the kindest people I have known. His quiet and softly spoken advice was always apt and given when really needed. As I write this, I can hear him patiently explaining what I needed to know. He was a teacher in the very best sense of that often misused word and, of course, one of the best colleagues I could have asked for.
